Ecolab鈥檚 deal to offer water treatment
ECOLAB, a US provider of water, hygiene technologies and services, yesterday said it has acquired a Chinese industrial water treatment company with annual sales of US$90 million.
The acquisition of Jianghai Environmental Protection Co will complement Ecolab’s current industrial water treatment offerings under its Nalco brand. Ecolab will serve the Chinese market through both Jianghai and Nalco.
Jianghai operates two plants in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, and mainly serves customers in the power and chemicals sectors.
Ecolab didn’t release the acquisition value.
Ecolab said the acquisition taps China’s increasingly high standards in water protection and pollution prevention as the government this year issued the “Action Plan for Prevention and Treatment of Water Pollution.”
The plan commits China to maintain more than 70 percent of the seven key river basins, including Yangtze and Yellow rivers, in good condition by 2020.
