Exchange outlets
BANKS in Shanghai will make more outlets available for citizens to exchange the 60 million commemorative coins for the World Expo 2010 issued by China's central bank, the city government said yesterday.
The coins now can be purchased at 88 authorized outlets of major commercial banks in the city at face value of 1 yuan (15 US cents).
Many citizens lined up at local bank outlets to exchange for the coins after the issue began on Tuesday, especially after an online rumor said that a single coin could be sold for 1,000 yuan.
The central bank yesterday clarified the coin can be circulated as a regular 1 yuan coin.
