FTZ to unveil reforms for national use

SHANGHAI’S pilot free trade zone will unveil more than 36 reform measures that can be applied across the country on the one-year anniversary of its set-up, Dai Haibo, deputy director of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration, said yesterday.
“Innovative measures regarding investment, trade, finance and supervision will be added to a package of reform achievements that can be promoted to other areas beyond the zone,” Dai said yesterday, without providing details.
The zone’s regulator said earlier that the package will mainly cover reforms on customs management, business registration and management, government administration and service sector opening.
Dai said the package will be unveiled around September 29, the zone’s first anniversary.
Last month, China’s customs regulator expanded the simplified clearance procedures, initiated by the FTZ, to 51 special economic zones along the Yangtze River. From today the procedures will be applied to special economic zones across the country, and to areas beyond these zones from September 18.
The FTZ yesterday launched an online platform to provide consultation, projects recommendation, industrial analysis and business registration services for investors who plan to invest overseas.
By the end of August, Chinese companies in the zone have invested US$1.7 billion in 79 projects overseas.
