Finance ministry official appointed to World Bank
The World Bank has appointed an official at China鈥檚 Ministry of Finance as chief administrative officer and managing director, a ministry statement said.
Yang Shaolin鈥檚 appointment is effective from February 29, the statement said yesterday.
The positions are new in the World Bank and created to bring together organizational strategy, budgeting and planning, and information and technology, among other responsibilities, according to a press release from the group.
Yang is now director-general of the ministry鈥檚 Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation which is in charge of economic and financial cooperation between China and international financial institutions as well as foreign governments.
In his position, Yang played a critical role in the creation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the BRICS鈥 New Development Bank.

Yang served as the executive director for China at the group from September 2009 to November 2013.
