Financial plays lead decliners in Shanghai stock trading

THE benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.35 percent to close at 2,318.31 points today, as blue chips began to decline after seven consecutive days of rising. Financial shares contributed most to the loss in the local market.
New China Life Insurance dropped 2.21 percent to 24.78 yuan (US$4.06), while Anxin Trust was down 1.9 percent to 18.10 yuan.
The sapphire-related business saw a clear decline as the new iPhone sets, released this morning, did not use the material for the screen.
Anhui Tongfeng Electronics lost 1.12 percent to 7.06 yuan.
