Further growth seen
STANDARD Chartered Plc's mainland business has expanded at a faster pace than its global growth in the first half of this year and the bank will grow its consumer banking business in the country in the second half, the head of its consumer banking said yesterday.
Income from all its business in China grew an annual 16 percent from January to June to US$404 million. Net profit earned from the world's second-largest economy surged an annual 76 percent to US$137 million in the first half.
Consumer banking rose an annual 19 percent to US$117 million in the first six months, Jungkiu Choi, the new head of consumer banking business of Standard Chartered Bank (China) Ltd, said in an exclusive interview with Shanghai Daily.
