REFORM achievements in Shanghai’s pilot free trade zone have been better than expected, the city’s Party Secretary Han Zheng said yesterday.
Trials in the zone has led to breakthroughs in key areas, he told reporters.
He said the mission in piloting reforms in the zone is to find a new way to improve government effectiveness and fully empower the market to allocate market resources.
Han said innovations such as the introduction of a negative list have created a good business environment, especially in improving efficiency, spurring market vitality and reducing operational costs.
As a testing ground for economic reform, the zone is required to produce reforms that can be applied elsewhere, and in the past year, 21 reforms has gone nationwide.
The government is evaluating a batch of more than 30 reforms and they will go nationwide when conditions permit, Han said.
