High-tech firms to shine at Shanghai fair
INNOVATIVE high-tech companies will have equal opportunities to showcase their latest products and progress at the third China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair, which will kick off in Shanghai later this month.
"We find innovation an asset not only by those big state-owned enterprises or foreign industrial giants, but small and private companies as well," said Zhong Xiaomin, deputy director at the Shanghai Commission of Commerce. "Some small companies even have stronger capabilities of innovation than their bigger counterparts."
Indeed, in strategic areas such as national security, biotech or automobile, some leaders or pioneers are pure local privately-funded firms.
Shanghai PeopleNet Security Technology Co Ltd is one of such companies. As a private firm founded in 2007, Shanghai PeopleNet focuses on cyber and information security.
"We will exhibit our latest security code system based on sound waves at the fair," said Gao Yingxin, chief operating officer at Shanghai PeopleNet. "This new technology, whose patent is owned by us, will make online or mobile money transfer safer."
Shanghai Real Industrial Co Ltd is another example in automobile part industry. As a supplier for many international car producers, the company has just discovered how to produce the world's smallest impeller.
"Many private companies are active contributors to new technology," Zhong said. "They are also active participants at the upcoming fair."
The technology fair, seen as China's biggest platform for trading technology, will be held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center from April 23 to April 25. Companies from home and abroad will display high-tech products and services in energy conservation, environment protection, next-generation information technology, biotechnology and high-end equipment manufacturing, while a separate hall will be set up for independent inventors.
