SHANGHAI stocks closed a tad above 3,000 points yesterday, following positive March factory data.

The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.19 percent to 3,009.53 points. The index gained 1.01 percent this week, rising for the third week running.

China’s manufacturing activity grew in March for the first time in eight months, official figures released yesterday showed.
