Insurer's digital platform

SINO-US Metlife Insurance will build an e-commerce platform with money raised through its subordinated bond sales.

The digital platform is expected to be completed in three to five years, and will incorporate websites, mobile applications and instant messaging tools to offer sales, customer care and communication functions, Sino-US Metlife CEO George Tan told reporters yesterday.

The company will also use the money raised through bond issuance to replenish capital.

The China Insurance Regulatory Commission on March 10 gave the nod for the insurer to sell 800 million yuan (US$129 million) subordinated bonds, the first in China by a foreign-invested insurer.
