Jobs in services draw most applicants
WHITE-COLLAR workers were busy finding new jobs while employers in the services industry were looking for junior level employees in the first week after the Chinese New Year, recruitment reports showed yesterday.
White-collar workers submitted on average of 12.27 applications per person in the week, online recruiter Zhaopin.com said in a report.
The website found only 5.1 percent of over 20,000 respondents said they were not considering changing jobs, below the 6.1 percent in last year’s survey.
Robust growth in the real estate and e-commerce industries pushed white-collar workers to be most active in scouting new opportunities, Zhaopin.com said.
Nearly 65 percent of those wanting to change jobs earned a monthly salary from 2,000 yuan (US$305) to 6,000 yuan.
Meanwhile, 51job.com yesterday said Shanghai remained the biggest job market in China in the first week after the Chinese New Year as job advertisements jumped 21 percent in the city to over 690,000 between February 15 and 21, the website said.
Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou took the second to fourth spots.
Over 80 percent of employment demand in the largest cities came from the services industry, with the greatest demand for staff in sales, sales management, e-commerce and computer software positions.
51job.com said a shortage of workers “is growing more prominent in services.”
