Karachi Stock Exchange seeks partnership with SSE
PAKISTAN'S Karachi Stock Exchange is considering privatizing 40 percent of its shares and is looking for strategic investors.
Chairman Muneer Kamal met top executives of Shanghai Stock Exchange this week and talked about possibilities of closer cooperation including in strategic investment, management and cross listing, Kamal said today.
"Karachi Stock Exchange is much smaller in size compared with Shanghai Stock Exchange though we have a longer history," Kamal said. "There is a lot to learn from Shanghai as the capital market here can grow so rapidly and become one of the world's largest in 20 years' time."
But unlike the Shanghai bourse, Karachi Stock Exchange is among the world's best performers so far this year.
