Loans to private sector in Macau grow slightly
LOANS made by Macau banks to its private sector in April grew 0.2 percent over the previous month to 92 billion patacas (US$11.6 billion), according to the figures released yesterday by its monetary authority.
Among the domestic loans, 19.2 billion patacas were pataca-denominated and 66.8 billion patacas were denominated in Hong Kong dollars, representing 20.8 percent and 72.6 percent of the total respectively, the data showed.
External loans fell 2 percent to 56.5 billion patacas, of which loans denominated in pataca and Hong Kong dollars accounted for 1.9 percent and 57.6 percent respectively of the total.
The loan-to-deposit ratio for local residents at the end of April was virtually unchanged from a month ago at 44.7 percent.
