Medical issues lead Shanghai index higher

SHANGHAI stocks went up 0.57 percent to 2239.47 points in today trading. The medical equipment and graphene industries performed well.

The medical equipment business got a boost from central government’s policies to stimulate the market. Senior officials hosted a meeting on Saturday to promote domestic products, in which more than 20 domestic companies took part.

Shinva Medical Instrument gained 4.98 percent to 35.55 yuan (US$5.73), while Top Choice Medical Investment added 1.86 percent to 47.05 yuan.

Tesla Motors recently announced that the company is researching the graphene battery, which would sustain an electric car for 800 kilometers. The act aroused an upward trend in the graphene sector.

Fangda Carbon New Material rose 3.96 percent to 11.29 yuan, while Xinjiang Tianfu Energy was up 0.22 percent to 8.96 yuan.
