NPL Ratio Of China's 5 Big Banks Drops To 1.8%
THE non-performing loan ratio of China's five major banks shed 1 percentage point from the start of 2009 to 1.8 percent at the end of the year, the China Banking Regulatory Commission said yesterday.
Their combined NPL fell by 63.8 billion yuan to 357 billion yuan (US$52.3 million) last year, accounting for 72 percent of the total bad loans of all Chinese commercial banks, the CBRC said on its Website.
The NPL ratio for the major banks was higher than the average level of all Chinese banks, which was 1.58 percent.
CBRC Chairman Liu Ming°?kang said China's banks should attach importance to risk control.
