Platform to develop Internet Plus trade
THE Sino-US Internet Plus Commerce Synergic Innovation Platform was launched yesterday in Shanghai to facilitate cooperation between companies in the e-commerce sector, the Shanghai Commission of Commerce said yesterday.
“It is of great importance nowadays for companies to get involved in the digitized business,” said Shang Yuying, chairwoman of the commission. “With the establishment of this platform, we hope to better share information with our US partners, and to accelerate the transformation of domestic companies in their e-commerce business.”
A secretariat, which manages the platform and operates a website, will give out annual awards to companies which help the Internet and e-commerce to develop and grow.
The platform was the culmination of a state visit by President Xi Jinping to the United States last September when the two countries signed an agreement to establish a mechanism to promote cooperation in Internet Plus commerce.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai said more than 50 percent of US companies in China plan to invest in e-commerce.
