Setting up made easier

SETTING up a company in Shanghai will become easier from tomorrow due to the simpler administrative approval procedure so that there is no need to visit three government departments to get required certificates.

The tax registration certificate and the certificate of organization code will no longer be needed when companies apply to set up, and the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau will replace those certificates with a business license bearing a unified social credit code.

Companies will fill one set of forms at the bureau instead of having to fill forms at the Shanghai Tax Bureau and the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau.

The old certificates are still valid until December 31, 2017, and the more than 1 million companies using the old certificates in the city will have to apply for the new one after that date.
