Shanghai financial center index rises on innovation and internationalization

THE index measuring the overall conditions of Shanghai’s financial industry expanded 5.3 percent during the first half, according to a joint industry report released today.
The Shanghai Financial Prosperity Index rose to 3,242 points by the end of June, 164 points up from last year, mainly driven by innovation activities, market development and internationalization, the Shanghai Financial Association and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants said in the joint report today.
The sub-index that measures the development of the financial industry gained 4 percent to 4,517 points, as the money, mutual funds, foreign exchange and gold markets saw the biggest expansion among the others.
