Shanghai pilot free trade zone saw 1,623 new companies in August

SHANGHAI pilot free trade zone saw 1,623 new companies last month, down slightly from July’s 1,745, data from the Shanghai Administration for Industry & Commerce showed.

Newly-established firms have an aggregated registered capital of 142.5 billion yuan (US$22.3 billion), with an average of 94.7 million yuan, data showed.

New foreign-invested firms totaled 318 last month and accounted for 30 percent of the registered capital.

By the end of August, more than 23,000 companies have been set up in the zone since its establishment in September 2013.
