Shanghai sees highest wages in Q4

SALARIES in Shanghai were the highest among China’s major cities in the fourth quarter last year, with professional services sector leading all industries, online recruitment portal Zhaopin.com said in a report yesterday.
Job openings in Shanghai commanded an average salary of 5,891 yuan (US$942) a month, higher than 5,796 yuan in Beijing and 5,302 yuan in Shenzhen, according to the report which analyzed all job postings on the website in the fourth quarter last year.
The professional services sector including consultant, legal, and human resource services boasted the best paid positions with average monthly salary of 10,154 yuan.
The salary structure is in line with Shanghai’s economic goal to boost the services industry, Zhaopin.com said.
Nationwide, accountancy and assurance positions were the best paid jobs with an average monthly salary of 9,751 yuan.
Competition for jobs in state-owned companies was the toughest among all company categories, according to the report.
