Shanghai shares decline after reaching 20-month high

SHANGHAI stocks saw a round of profit taking in midday trading, after the market surged to a 20-month-high yesterday. The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.57 percent to 2,369.30 points.

Blue chips saw a general decline, with IT shares leading the fall. Anhui Sun-Create Electronics fell 4.37 percent to 42.89 yuan (US$6.97), Shanghai East-China Computer lost 4.16 percent to 36.89 yuan, while Founder Technology Group was down 4.07 percent to 4.95 yuan.
