Shanghai shares drop on profit taking
SHANGHAI stocks edged lower today, largely because investors went on to take profits on blue chips after the market obtained considerable gains in the previous week. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.36 percent to 2,366.01 points. The index once rose to a twenty-month high on Thursday.
Among the biggest blue-chip losers today was the financial sector. Pacific Securities dropped 2.58 percent to 6.41 yuan (US$1.04), Anxin Trust lost 2.56 percent to 23.95 yuan, while Bank Of Beijing dipped 2.49 percent to 7.82 yuan.
