Shanghai shares fall
SHANGHAI stocks fell yesterday as companies that were likely to gain from a landmark exchange link with Hong Kong suffered a bout of profit taking ahead of its launch on Monday.
The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.27 percent to 2,478.82 points, paring earlier loss of over 1 percent. For the week, the index rose 2.51 percent.
Investors in brokerages cashed in gains on worries that the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect may fail to meet market hopes initially. Industrial Securities lost 2.2 percent to 8.27 yuan. Sinolink Securities shed 3.4 percent to 14.39 yuan.
