Shanghai trails Beijing for white-collar salaries
Shanghai remained the second-best paid city after Beijing for white-collar workers in the third quarter, said recruitment portal Zhaopin.com.
White-collar workers in Beijing were the best paid on the Chinese mainland with a monthly average of 8,894 yuan (US$1,403), followed by Shanghai at 8,601 yuan. Shenzhen was third at 7,622 yuan, Zhaopin.com said in a report based on job positions posted on the website.
The best paid jobs in Shanghai were in professional services such as treasury, legal and human resources with an average monthly salary of 14,024 yuan, ahead of 11,244 yuan in salary for positions in intermediary services.
Nationally, the average monthly salary for white-collar workers rose 5 percent from the second quarter to 6,700 yuan.
The professional services sector took the lead with 10,216 yuan.
Jobs in funds, securities and investment companies followed with 8,795 yuan, ahead of intermediary services at 8,766 yuan.
Listed and foreign-invested companies were the most generous employers, while government-backed organizations and private companies paid the lowest salaries, according to the report.
