SHANGHAI stocks extended last week’s decline yesterday with financial and real estate shares performing sluggishly.

The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.42 percent to 2,946.67 points, following last week’s 3.9 percent weekly loss.

Gemdale Corp lost 2.47 percent to 11.85 yuan (US$1.83), and Shanghai AJ Corp shed 2.83 percent to 10.31 yuan.

Brokerages also declined, with China Merchants Securities and Industrial Securities both falling over 1.8 percent.
