Shares dip as investors remain cautious
SHANGHAI stocks ended lower for a second day yesterday amid a cautious sentiment ahead of the US presidential election and China?s national congress, which starts tomorrow.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.38 percent to settle at 2,106 points.
Many investors are sitting on the sidelines and waiting to see how the presidential election result will affect America?s relationship with China as well as clues from the 18th Party Congress about the future direction of domestic policy, Founder Securities said in a report.
The market will continue to fluctuate in the short term due to uncertainties, the brokerage said.
Distilleries led the market down yesterday.
