Stable trade growth seen in Q4

China’s trade may grow stably in the fourth quarter despite the volatility in the past few months, the Ministry of Commerce’s spokesman Shen Danyang said.

“Exporters are still facing a severe and complicated external environment, but the government is confident that trade will maintain a stable development and see marginal growth in the next several months thanks to supportive policies and an improving domestic economy,” Shen said yesterday.

China’s exports fell unexpectedly by 0.3 percent from a year earlier in September, ending the strong growth in the previous two months. Some analysts said it exposed weakness in the country’s economic recovery.

China’s has set an 8 percent growth target for foreign trade this year. In the first three quarters, trade grew 7.7 percent year on year.
