Standard Chartered opens Guangzhou branch

STANDARD Chartered Bank opened a new outlet today in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, to provide financial services to local micro businesses, said the lender.
It's the British bank's 100th outlet in the Chinese mainland since it opened a branch in Shanghai in 1858.
"It's an important milestone in our development in China, which shows our commitment and confidence in the Chinese market," said Lim Cheng-Teck, chief executive officer and executive vice chairman at Standard Chartered Bank China.
The new outlet will provide account service, treasury management, small unsecured loans, mortgages, and trade finance to micro businesses, the lender said.
Standard Chartered has the third-biggest branch network among overseas lenders in the mainland after HSBC and Bank of East Asia.
