SHANGHAI stocks had their best day for almost two weeks yesterday, with technology shares among the biggest winners.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.6 percent to 2,964.7 points. Trading volume fell to 134.1 billion yuan (US$20.6 billion), a low seen only four times since 2014, according to Bloomberg News.
Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co gained 6 percent to 20.29 yuan, while Shanghai East-China Computer Co rose 2.9 percent to 35.21 yuan.
Health care and pharmaceutical shares also gained on improved earnings. Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co added 1.3 percent to 17.82 yuan.
