Taiwan GDP rises fastest

TAIWAN’S economy saw its fastest growth of 3.74 percent last year in almost three years due to strong local demand and steady exports.
The economy last year was valued at NT$16.88 trillion (US$535 billion), with a per capita gross domestic product of US$22,632, Taiwan’s statistical agency said yesterday.
The Consumer Price Index rose 1.2 percent year on year in 2014.
The agency raised the economic growth forecast for this year to 3.78 percent, 0.28 percentage points higher than the previous projection of 3.5 percent, which was made in November.
