Treaty talks enter ‘most critical stage’
CHINA and the United States negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty have entered “the most critical stage” of exchanging “negative list” offers of sectors, the Ministry of Commerce said yesterday.
The two countries have already exchanged updated offers and are conducting talks, ministry spokesman Shen Danyang said.
During the Eighth Round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue earlier this month, both sides agreed to speed up the talks and exchange new “negative list” offers in mid-June.
The “negative list” defines sectors that will remain off limits to each other’s investments.
