UnionPay expands

CHINA UnionPay Co said yesterday it has teamed up with Network International to expand its presence in Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Shanghai-based UnionPay can penetrate 20 countries in the region by merchants and ATM acceptance of UnionPay cards by tying up with the United Arab Emirates-based Network International.
Also yesterday, UnionPay said its cards are now accepted on ATMs in Taiwan as it penetrates deeper as exchanges across the strait climb. UnionPay has already penetrated the merchants segment in Taiwan last year.
