VF aims to double sales
US-BASED VF Corp, parent of North Face and Lee, yesterday opened its US$62 million distribution center in Shanghai’s neighboring Kunshan City to power its ambition to double China sales by 2017.
It is the company’s largest infrastructure investment in China, VF said. The facility is now able to handle 10 million units of clothing and footwear each year, and the amount is expected to triple when the center is running at full capacity.
Eric Wiseman, global chairman and CEO of VF Corp, said revenue in China was US$500 million last year and the company expects it to double by 2017.
“It’s our wish that we will continue to grow in China, necessitating us to build another distribution facility nearby where we already have the land to do that,” said Wiseman.
