Weak PMI hits shares
SHANGHAI shares yesterday slipped as reports of a weaker PMI cast a dark pall over investors.
The Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.87 percent to end at 2,953.39 points.
Investor sentiment was clouded after the National Statistics Bureau said July’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index fell 0.1 percent from June to 49.9, below the 50-pont mark that separates growth from decline.
