Weaker jobs view clouds sentiment
CHINESE consumer sentiment dipped in January as a weaker outlook for jobs cast a shadow over an improvement in the outlook for personal finances, according to a latest study.
The Westpac MNI China Consumer Sentiment Indicator dipped 0.3 percent from a month ago to 112.1 in January, the Australian bank and Germany’s Market News International said in a joint survey done with 1,000 domestic respondents aged from 18-64.
The figure is slightly up from the record low seen in October, and the index has fallen 8 percent since January last year.
Consumer sentiment on real estate fell. Consumers were more optimistic about their personal finances over the coming year amid lower inflation.
