10 years and Chinajoy is still thriving
CHINA Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference, or Chinajoy, will mark the 10th anniversary of the country's biggest annual game fair when it is held in Shanghai next month, government officials said yesterday.
Chinajoy is now the country's most important platform for game firms, and various conferences on game development and mobile entertainment services will be held alongside it, said Song Jianxin, vice director of the General Administration of Press and Publication.
Many of the game industry's biggest names, including Shanda, Tencent, NetEase, Giant and Blizzard, will attend the exhibition to be held in the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area from July 26 to July 29.
The revenue of the game industry in Shanghai jumped 15 percent annually in 2011 to 13.8 billion yuan (US$2.2 billion), according to the Shanghai Press and Publication Administration.
