AI to help in transport
AMAP, China’s biggest online map and navigation service provider, will adopt artificial intelligence technology in public transport services nationwide to offer users services real-time bus locations and smart route options to avoid congestion.
Online map and navigation services are one of the most used applications among consumers, according to analysts.
Amap’s new public transport service offers users optimized routes and real-time navigation based on its huge volume of data obtained from passengers and transport bureaus in major cities including Shanghai, said Dong Zhenning, Amap’s vice president.
“Public transportation is a green and sustainable lifestyle in today’s China. Passengers deserve better user experiences in map and navigation services,” Dong said.
At present, Amap has 75,000 bus and metro routes covering 331 cities nationwide, whose real-time conditions can be updated every 10 minutes. Passengers can choose personalized routes and set up their own features including shortest walking distance and least possibility of congestion.
The new services will fuel the rivalry between Alibaba-invested Amap and online map services offered by Baidu and Tencent.
