Adapting latest tech to survive 鈥榗hange of era鈥
CROSS-MEDIA integration and the adaptation of new technology will bring a breath of fresh air and business opportunities to the TV broadcasting industry, which faces challenges from the Internet and new media, industry officials disclosed at a media summit yesterday in Shanghai.
Industry players need to take advantage of the new technologies such as 3D, virtual reality, super high-definition display and cloud computing in the new Internet era, media giants told the NAB Show Gix conference, regarded as Oscar of the broadcasting industry.
“We have to embrace the change of era if we want to develop or even survive in the near future,” said Gao Yunfei, general manager of the Shanghai United Media Group.
The popularity of the Internet and smart device have brought both opportunities and challenges to the traditional broadcasting industry, Gordon Smith, president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Broadcasters, said during his keynote speech yesterday.
The Shanghai Media Group is testing new technologies such as 3D and virtual reality to provide audiences interesting and interactive experiences.
