Advanced products at fair put in use to improve people鈥檚 daily life

VISITORS to the 2nd China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair will be able to view the most advanced technological products in biotech, new materials, new energy, garbage disposal, water supply and robot making.
The devices and services shown at the fair, which opened yesterday, are no longer concept models as they are already being used to improve people’s daily life or boost the economy, Shanghai Daily learned yesterday.
Fashion Mirror, called Shang Jing in Chinese, allows users to see the virtual effects of wearing various clothes rapidly through wireless sensors. It is able to collect and analyze data to help brands better understand consumer demand.
“It has become a practical device in shops today compared with displaying the concept only in shows,” said Xuan Chao, head of Beijing Chujiao Technology Co, a partner of Microsoft in China on the Kinect wireless sensor technology.
The mirror, which attracted visitors, is being used in 20 shops in Shanghai.
The fair has drawn international awareness with exhibitors like Tesla, Fortune 500 giants such as Siemens and BASF, and professional trade organizations from Japan, South Korea and Europe like the European Business Promotion Center.
Tesla, which gave keys to its first batch of Chinese buyers this week, attracted many visitors to its two red Model S cars.
Domestic firms also displayed their latest technologies, including 4G applications and high-tech healthcare gadgets.
China Telecom showed off multi-screen video communications systems based on the 4G network. The systems embrace handset, computer and in-car screens and offer Internet access speeds of up to 100 megabits per second, 10 times faster than 3G.
Anhui-based Ankon Technologies shows its NaviCam system which uses remote-controlled capsules with cameras to help doctors diagnose stomach problems.
More than 100 visitors to the fair took part in a lucky draw yesterday for the opportunity to get a free diagnosis using the NaviCam system.
The fair also has a special 3D printer zone offering a low-cost 3D printer costing under 3,000 yuan (US$480) for family users in the domestic market.
For exhibitors and visitors, the fair organizers also provide an on-site intellectual property checking service and a special mobile application.
The fair, seen as China’s biggest platform for trading technology, is being held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. It will end tomorrow.
