Advances in IT changing society rapidly
MOBILE communications technology, used in areas including real-time traffic monitoring, is changing daily life and society deeper than expected.
During the Shanghai Digital Information Fair yesterday, China Telecom demonstrated monitoring real-time visitor traffic at Shanghai Disney Resort by using data analysis with signals obtained by cellular and Wi-Fi base stations.
Visitors were also able to know the most popular restaurant in the resort was the Cheesecake Factory and the major source of domestic visitors was from Anhui Province.
Nokia Technologies displayed OZO which captures 360-degree spherical video and surround sound with interactive monitoring. OZO will probably debut in China in the third quarter, Rashpal Singh Bhati, Nokia’s brand marketing manager, told Shanghai Daily at the fair.
Nokia is also “in talks” with Chinese producers for virtual reality films in the future, said Bhati.
Qualcomm Inc, the world’s biggest chip designer, demonstrated 3D scanning functions during the fair, which ends tomorrow.
They will be used in mobile devices soon, which allow users to take 3D videos on smartphones.
