Alipay adds Rakuten to list of clients

China's largest third party payment service Alipay said it has began to offer payment services to Chinese buyers at Japan's leading shopping website Rakuten.

Chinese buyers can place orders on Rakuten and pay in yuan via Alipay's transaction service as the company cashes in on the growing demand to purchase from overseas websites.

Last week, Alipay said it will also launch a similar partnership with Yahoo Japan in June.

Alipay currently offers cross-border payment services to more than 100 Japanese online shopping sites.
