Aliyun, GDS in pact

ALIYUN, the cloud computing business unit of Alibaba Group, has formed a strategic partnership with domestic data service provider GDS Services Ltd to promote the development of enterprise-level cloud services in China.
The partnership would combine AliCloud’s cloud computing technology and GDS’s data center infrastructure.
Earlier this year, Alibaba said it would invest 6 billion yuan (US$926 million) into its cloud computing unit to fund infrastructure research in areas such as computer chips and network hardware, and to rival Amazon.com Inc’s Web Services division. The latest collaboration would involve more cloud data center deployment as well as enterprise-level hybrid cloud service offerings in various industries. The two firms would also set up a unified service standard to share customer base.
