Aliyun ties up to boost cloud ecosystem
ALIBABA’S cloud computing division said yesterday that it has teamed up with overseas Internet service providers and technology companies to better leverage its own technology and expertise as well as the partners’ existing network.
Aliyun’s partnership with the overseas firms will also improve networking efficiency and optimize cloud solutions, according to a joint statement yesterday.
The tie-up will allow Aliyun to utilize the partners’ existing facilities to localize its cloud computing offerings to meet the regional needs of multinational companies in finance, energy, online gaming, entertainment, health care and education.
There are seven partners in the first phase of the tie-up, including Singapore Telecom, Dubai’s holding company Meraas, and US data center and Internet exchange provider Equinix. They cover North America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
“We will continue to bring more partners online to grow our cloud computing ecosystem,” said Yu Sicheng, Aliyun vice president.
Last year, Aliyun teamed up with domestic Internet service providers.
