Annual tech fair vital for Shanghai
THE China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair will show the latest innovation and technological development in personal flying machines, intelligent service robots and unmanned underwater submarines.
“The fair becomes more and more important (for Shanghai) on technology innovation and global cooperation, especially in the uncertain economic environment,” said Dong Chao, vice director of the fair’s organization.
Of over 1,000 exhibitors of the city’s biggest annual tech fair, more than 20 percent are overseas exhibitors from 22 countries and regions. Last year’s fair drew 18 percent of exhibitors from overseas.
Italy is the guest country of the three-day fair, which will open on April 21.
A Hungary-based firm will display a personal flying machine which is set to become a future transport vehicle. A self-driving submarine, developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is able to undertake observation at water depth of 11,000 meters.
Dong said a fund of over 3 billion yuan (US$463 million) has been set up to help startups, including the fair’s exhibitors.
