App cuts out waiting time
DELICIOUS Nowait, a mobile application which helps consumers book seats at popular restaurants, yesterday said it received a 500 million yuan (US$78.7 million) investment, a sign of the booming Chinese O2O (online-to-offline) sector.
Investors Baidu.com Inc and Dianping.com valued the mobile app service provider at 2 billion yuan.
The Delicious Nowait app allows users to reserve seats or register on waiting lists of the hottest restaurants through their mobile phones, instead of waiting outside the restaurants for several hours.
It offers CRM, or customer relationship management, services to restaurants to improve efficiency and help them know their consumers better.
“The industry needs Internet and O2O services to make it grow in a sustainable way,” said Xie Xinfa, chief executive of Delicious Nowait.
Delicious Nowait cooperates with many Chinese dot-com giants including Dianping, Baidu and Tencent. The app covers 30,000 restaurant firms in 200 cities nationwide.
