Apple's China revenue grow at double global rate

APPLE Inc's revenue growth rate in China, its second biggest regional market, doubled its global level in the second quarter, though the world's No. 1 tech firm posted less-than-expected revenues today.
Apple's revenue in China, which accounts for 20 percent of global income, posted a growth rate of 48 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, compared with a 23 percent growth globally.
The iPhone sales jumped 100 percent year-on-year in China in the quarter after Apple launched the latest iPhone 4S in the country in the first quarter and partnered with China Unicom and China Telecom.
In the second quarter, Apple China's revenue reached US$5.7 billion.
Though China's revenue decreased from the first quarter for seasonal reasons, Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive commented the growth in China as an "incredible rate".
In the first quarter when Apple launched the iPhone 4S in the country, Apple's revenue in the country hit a record US$7.9 billion, 94 percent growth from a year ago.
The sale of the iPhone will continue to surge thanks to Apple's possible cooperation with China Mobile, the world's biggest mobile carrier by subscriber base.
The iPad sales is also expected to grow after Apple settled a long-term trademark dispute and finally launched the new iPad officially in the Chinese mainland last week, industry insiders said.
Meanwhile, Apple will release a new operating system of Mac computers with Chinese features like support of Weibo and Baidu search services.
