Apple鈥檚 growth on target
A new Apple Store opened in Shanghai at the weekend is helping to meet the expectations of Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook of opening 40 stores in China.
The Apple Store Global Harbor in Putuo district — the 10th new Apple Store to be opened this year in China — represents the latest step for the iconic US company to expand in the country, its second biggest regional market.
The latest store — the fifth in Shanghai — also propelled the city on par with Beijing having the most Apple Stores in Asia.
Apple now has 38 stores in China covering around 20 cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong and Zhengzhou.
Apple faced a revenue fall in the latest quarter, which encouraged the technology giant to open more offline stores to tap consumers in China.
In April, Apple reported its first decline in iPhone sales since launching the smartphone in 2007.
