Austrian PCB firm to invest more in plant
AUSTRIA-BASED printed circuit board maker AT&S will raise investment in its Chongqing plant to 480 million euros (US$538 million) from the original 350 million euros by 2017.
The investment will be used to upgrade technology and next-generation products such as high-end PCBs and integrated circuit substrates, which are key materials in semiconductor manufacturing.
An IC substrate is a component connecting PCBs and chips during the manufacturing of semiconductors. They are used in consumer electronics and industrial devices.
The production of this technology is expected to start in the second half of 2016, the firm said.
AT&S will build new capacities for a next generation of PCBs to meet market potential, said a company statement yesterday.
AT&S has also invested US$700 million in a PCB plant in Shanghai.
