CHINESE language Internet search provider Baidu yesterday opened its first overseas laboratory in Singapore in collaboration with Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research. The laboratory, under the agreement inked in February, aims to work on cutting-edge research on human language technology. It will focus on research of Southeast Asian language resources, natural language processing, and information retrieval and information extraction.
