Baidu search revenue for partners nearly doubles

BAIDU, operator of China's largest search engine, said today that online search revenues allocated to its partners will nearly double to 2 billion yuan (US$317.5 million) this year with higher traffic growth.
The amount of income these websites received in 2011 was 1.16 billion yuan.
Baidu will continue to improve its technology and the efficiency of its advertising system to increase search-based income, said Ma Guolin, general manager of the business development unit at Baidu Union.
Baidu Union has about 600,000 members, or smaller websites with Baidu's search box on their sites that display promotional links for Baidu's advertising customers. In return, they receive a slice of Baidu's ad income.
Meanwhile, the company will also launch a new product next month to allow brands to launch content-based advertising in relevance with web viewers' discussions in Baidu Tieba, an online community platform.
Baidu will start to utilize traffic from Tieba as well as other non-search products including Baidu Encyclopedia, a wikipedia-style collaborative product, said Vice President Xiang Hailong.
